42岁老将卡特（Vince Carter）今年与亚特兰大老鹰（Atlanta Hawks）签了一年合约，开季他将超越诺威斯基（Dirk Nowitzki）、贾奈特（Kevin Garnett）、威利斯（Kevin Willis）与派瑞许（Robert Parish）的21季最长记录，开启他NBA生涯第22季，被诺威斯基笑称：「真是疯了」。有趣的是，卡特1998年6月24日被选入NBA，三个月后他现任对有杨恩（Trae Young）才出生。
儘管已经42岁，但卡特可不是到老鹰养老，热身赛面对纽约尼克他让世界知道，老将实力依旧在，他在尼克主场麦迪逊广场花园上演「卡特秀」，第二节五分钟内投进4颗三分球，单节进帐14分，让板凳小老弟都疯狂。
虽然下半场大部分时间卡特都坐板凳，不过还是让人期待这位「半人半神」的传奇球星，在他NBA最后一季能打出什么成绩。然而，无论如何，卡特颠峰时期的表现，特别是灌篮大赛的经典「大风车爆扣」，都永存球迷心中。
上季卡特在老鹰缴出场均7.4分、2.6篮板、1.1助攻，三分球命中率达到38.9%。卡特生涯8度入选全明星赛，1999-2000年与2000-2001年赛季入选了年度第三队与年度第二队，生涯1481场例行赛出赛，场均17.2分4.4篮板3.2助攻。
